Luc Moore

Hi, my name is Luc, and I am an Ontario native born in Ottawa. I learned how to windsurf and wing on the Ottawa River. My journey into wind sports started in 2012, 3 years after a near-fatal motorcycle accident.

Wing Foiling:

In 2018 a new water sport was growing fast in North America. I had seen the videos of Laird Hamilton and Kai Lenny foiling out of Maui, but I, like many others, was patiently waiting for gear to make its way to Canada. When it finally arrived, I was stoked to get started and contacted Tom, who worked at a local wind shop. He told me he had a great beginner kit, so I jumped on it and gave it my all. 

Once I got a handle on the basics, I wanted to share how the sport made me feel with others, so I became a wing instructor. I started giving lessons in 2021, working for the top schools on Vancouver Island and then created the Wing Life Podcast in 2022 with Tom to help further spread my love for water sports. 

Wing foiling is an experience the likes of which I've never had before. It feels like you are flying above the water in absolute silence. The surfing capability is out of this world, and due to the foil, you can travel way upwind and then sightsee effortlessly. 

Where do I live? 

I primarily split my time between Ottawa and Vancouver Island but being a little nomadic is my style. 

Favourite Sailing Spots: 

Nitinat Lake on Vancouver Island, Sandbanks on Lake Ontario, Lake Champlain, Lake Winnipeg, Hatteras and Ottawa (yes, it can be fun sometimes even though its super gusty, lol)
